Calls for patience over Covid-19 vaccines in Bridlington
People in Bridlington are again being asked to be patient with the coronavirus vaccine roll-out.
People in Bridlington are again being asked to be patient with the coronavirus vaccine roll-out.
It comes from the town's Primary Care Network, which consists of all six GP practices.
Its Clinical Director, Dr. Zoe Norris, said:
"In Bridlington we are really lucky to have such a dedicated team working to deliver the vaccinations. All the GP practices have been involved in this and we have made the decision to use Practice Three as the site within the medical centre to deliver the vaccination programme.
"Their nurses, pharmacists, GPs and practice manager worked really hard to do a trial run and then to do the initial vaccinations to make sure that everything was working how it should. It's largely gone smoothly, we had a little backlog on a couple of occasions.
"It is a really challenging thing to do. We're obviously trying to deliver our normal GP services as well as delivering the vaccination programme and we've been given advice from NHS England of what we can stop doing in order to prioritise vaccines.
"The surgeries locally are under pressure because we're really trying to prioritise keeping people safe. so it's been very busy. The vaccination days have been 12-hour days and for the rest of the staff across town doing their normal work, it's been really busy as well.
"We can assure you that your GP surgery will be in touch with you to arrange your vaccination. Please don't worry. If you haven't heard, please wait. There is a priority list in place and while it might differ between individuals, that's simply a reflection of that fact that we're running at slightly different paces and deliveries are spread out.
"Thank you for those of you who have been so kind, so polite, so patient with us as we've been trying to get to grips with this. Thank you for remembering that we're people too and we do get tired and we've been going through this with you over the last 10 months as ell as dealing with our own families and issues.
