Teachers at a North Yorkshire school facing huge disruption because of RAAC concrete say it's a "disgrace" that pupils aren't getting more support from the Government.

It's just over six months since RAAC was discovered at Scalby school in Scarborough.

Jordan Philiskirk is the Assistant Headteacher for Achievement & Standards, he is calling for the Government to change pupils GCSE grades to reflect the disruption they've faced.

"It's a complete disgrace and a real let down and failure of leadership that were facing at the moment. This is their future as ultimately this is the biggest examinations they've sat so far. It starts to shape their career, their future, their opportunities and they’re going to have that jeopardised by decision made by government hundreds of miles away that are refusing to do anything about it."

"They can literally change a formula on a spreadsheet, it would take seconds. To say they can’t do it is just so wrong on every level. Families, students are going to be affected for the rest of our lives by this decision and how they are not doing more to help them is beyond me.

"These are the future of our economy, our communities our society to say that we cannot help them in in a situation which they find themselves in from no-fault of their own is just wrong on every level."

"How can our students fairly go up against peers up and down the country with all of this disruption that we have had and the Government saying that they cannot mitigate against is just an absolute disgrace. It’s a disgrace in every shape and form in terms of leadership, integrity and decency towards our young people."
