A man has been charged in connection with a burglary and a car theft in Bridlington reported on Saturday.

Adam Virr, 33, of High Street, Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.

This comes after items were reported stolen from a property on Cardigan Road, Bridlington, a car was reported stolen from a property on Lansdowne Road, Bridlington and items were reported stolen from a garage on Main Street, Wetwang.

Virr has been remanded to appear before Leeds Magistrates Court today (Monday).

Local officers are conducting patrols in the areas for community reassurance and they've offered a reminder of crime prevention advice.

  • Make sure your doors and windows are closed and locked when you’re not in the room. Nearly half of all burglaries are down to a door or window being open
  • Make sure nothing of value (including your car key) is left on show to tempt thieves into your property
  • Think about fitting a burglar alarm and security lighting – both to your home and outbuildings. It may be expensive, but they are very effective deterrents and can bring down your insurance costs
