Bridlington to welcome first ever Christmas tree trail next month

Bridlington is going to have its first ever Christmas Tree Trail next month.
People and businesses are being asked to take part by decorating or making a tree to put outside their home, shop, or in a window.
Organiser Maggie Masters said:
"A group of us got together to try and organise a Christmas event for Bridlington for this year. With the pandemic, that's all been put on hold so we saw something on the internet from Hull and they do a Christmas tree trail and we thought 'brilliant, let's do this in Bridlington'.
"It's been such an awful year. Halloween was cancelled, VE day celebrations were cancelled so we thought 'right, let's try and have something at Christmas.' We've got a lot of businesses in Old Town joining in which makes it look good. People can walk around together, obviously from their own households, but it's something everybody can do.
"What we'd like people to do is to put a Christmas tree in their front garden, or something that represents a tree, or they could use a bush that's already in their garden. If they haven't got a front garden, they can put something in their window or even draw a picture to put in their window."
This year's theme is reduce, reuse, and recycle. Maggie added:
"Recycle spaghetti if you like, paint spaghetti and hang it on the tree; old shoes, stick it on the tree. Obviously it's got to be waterproof if it's got to be outside but anything that you reuse in a different way to what you'd normally put on a Christmas tree to make it fun.
"We're going to produce a map of everybody who's taking part and distribute that, or we're going to have an app on the phone, and they can follow the map and walk around Bridlington, get some exercise, socially distance at the same time and enjoy looking at everybody's trees."
People are being asked to sign up before Saturday 28th November, with all trees, bushes and pictures are in place by Saturday 5th of December, which is the first day of the trail.
It will end on Monday 28th December but it is up to those taking part on when to take the tree down after that date.
