People in Bridlington are being asked to take part in a new trail this summer.

It will involve residents making scarecrows with a seaside theme and displaying them outside.

The event is being organised by the volunteers at the Bridlington Street Trails group on Facebook.

Maggie Masters is one of them and said:

"We've held a successful Christmas trail and an Easter trail so we decided we'd like to do something for the summer. We know a lot of villages have scarecrow trails but because we're not a village we're a town and we're beside the seaside, we decided we'd have a seacrow trail instead with the theme of 'being the seaside'.

"You would still make scarecrows like you would in a normal scarecrow trail but with a seaside theme; so you could have a pirate scarecrow, you could have scarecrows at the seaside around a paddling pool, it could be a seacrow gull if you want to or somebody fishing.

"We're printing a map off and there'll be a map on our Facebook page so people can find out where all the seacrows are, and we're just hoping that as many people can take part as possible and we hope to make it an annual thing.

"We appreciate that not everybody has a front garden so they can't necessarily put their scarecrows or seacrows in the front gardens, some people are going to be putting them on their roofs or porches, but if anybody would like to make a seacrow who cannot display it, if they contact us then we'll get someone to adopt it for them who has a front garden but are unable to make one."
