Bridlington RNLI to hold maritime auction to continue saving lives
Viewings will take place tomorrow between 10am until 12 noon with the auction from 2pm
Bridlington RNLI is set to hold a Maritime and General Auction tomorrow.
It is to raise funds for the lifeboat station in the town as it continues to save lives at sea.
It is auctioning donated artwork and a multitude of lifeboat memorabilia. Among the numerous lots on offer are a marine clock, barometers, sextants and many other items as well as numerous original artwork and photographs.
The auction is to be held tomorrow (Saturday 18th June) at Bridlington Lifeboat Station boat hall, viewing will take place between 10am to 12 noon followed by the auction from 2pm to 4pm.
Bridlington RNLI is delighted that the auctioneer will be Caroline Hawley who is not only an expert on Bargain Hunt as well as partner in Hawleys Auctioneers, Beverley.
The lifeboat station is hoping that people will pop along to bid on something unique and get hold of a lasting piece of RNLI history, whilst also helping the charity to save lives.
Bob Taylor, Crew Member at Bridlington RNLI, said: "We're 100 percent funded by the generosity and support of the public. Every penny that goes into us is used to keep our organisation afloat and we use it locally as well. It actually does stay in Bridlington.
"We've tried to be realistic and if everything sells, we've started getting quite a lot of commission bids, and if we get £2000-£3000 then we'll be very, very happy. If we get anymore than that then we'd be thrilled to bits. There's a couple pieces in there that's probably worth £200 to £300, so if we get that that would be lovely."
