We are being encouraged to get flu and Covid-19 vaccinations to ease the pressures on our NHS services in Bridlington and the East Riding.

It comes as hospitals and GPs are preparing for a challenging winter.

Mike McDermott, associate director of public health at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "The biggest impact on health and social care and the use of services and how we can help support services minimise the impact of people going in to hospital. If we can get people to go and get vaccinated then that will help them and help build their immunity.

"Unfortunately with more mixing, more people are getting infected and hence the reason why we're saying try and think about protecting yourself but particularly the most vulnerable. A part of that is thinking about what you can do in relation to the basics of hands, face, space and fresh air.

"People can book for vaccines, they can get it on the national booking service and for Hull and the East Riding, if people visit https://vaccinatehullandeastriding.co.uk/, then that will give them an indication as to where vaccines are available."
