Bridlington Residents Reminded To Get Flu Vaccination
Bridlington residents are being reminded to have their flu vaccinations, particularly those who are classed as being 'at risk'.
Bridlington residents are being reminded to have their flu vaccinations.
It comes from the town's Primary Care Network, which consists of all six GP practices.
It says it is prioritising those who are classed as 'at risk' to have the jab first.
Dr Zoe Norris, the group's Clinical Director, said:
"So far surgeries have held flu clinics vaccinating around 1,000 patients.
"So we are making really good progress, we're very keen to continue to do that and to make sure that people understand the importance of getting the flu jab, particularly this year when we also have Covid.
"The government has announced that people aged 50 to 64 will also be able to get flu jabs; but we're really asking people NOT to come forward at the moment, if you're in that age group unless you're in an 'at risk' category.
"We have enough flu jabs at the moment to give to those people who are more vulnerable.
"We're looking particularly at those with chronic health conditions, patients over the age of 65 and younger children who will often have them through their schools.
"If you think you're eligible, please book as soon as you can; that means we can manage the demand and we can make sure that the community in Bridlington is protected.
"Each GP surgery will be in touch with their patients both now and over the coming months, and so you may find that you're asked to attend a drive-thru clinic rather than going to your GP surgery.
"If you do go to your GP surgery, perhaps going through a different entrance or queuing in a different way.
"The main message from the all the GP surgeries in Bridlington is if you're not in an 'at risk' group, then please hold fire and we will call you when we're able to give you a flu jab.
"If you are in an 'at risk' group, then please get in touch so we can get you booked in and protected."
