There are worries that remaining in Tier 3 will affect pubs and restaurants in Bridlington and the East Riding.

A review is set to take place this week to see whether or not the county will be placed into a lower tier or not.

Three B's Micropub in Bridlington is one of those businesses that have been affected.

Owner Mark Bates said:

"We were all excited when the announcement was going made about the original tiers leading up to the 2nd of December, and then we were sadly disappointed when we found out we were in Tier 3.

"I follow the Covid-19 figures for our area very, very closely and I'm very much hoping that as our figures are incredibly low, that we'll be going into Tier 2.

"It will be absolutely massive. We've really struggled this month with the amount of bills we have to pay. We still have to pay all the running costs for the pub etc and obviously we've got our own personal costs at home as well. So for us, we're really holding onto the fact that we're hoping we can go into Tier 2 and hopefully that'll make a much more positive financial impact for us."

Mark says he is not sure if others have benefitted from having less restrictions:

"This time of year, we don't really have any visitors so everybody who comes to the pub for our takeout and delivery service are pretty much dedicated, local and regular customers anyway; and not being to travel out of Tier 3 areas, I haven't been able to travel to any other pubs or venues in Tier 2 to find out or not."
