Bridlington Old Town to hold second Christmas festival tomorrow
There will be an emphasis on street food and drink with a steampunk parade and carol singing
Bridlington Old Town is set to hold another Christmas festival tomorrow.
It is part two of a wider winter event with the first one being held at the end of last month.
Organisers say it was successful with many visitors which helped the economy in that part of town.
The festival tomorrow (Sunday 19th December) starts from around 10.30am.
Martyn Coltman is from ROBOT, which stands for Regeneration of Bridlington Old Town, and said:
"We've put a much more emphasis on street food and drinks this time because it's so close to Christmas, we think people will just want to wander, do their last minute shopping and then enjoy the atmosphere. We've got hog roasts, mulled wine, hot chocolate, vegan burgers, craft stalls and everything you can think of really.
"We were still really pleased at the numbers of people who turned out. The stallholders were very happy, the businesses were very happy, the footfall was very good and it really did work. It continued into the evening into the pubs, inns and the restaurants so it was a really good day to be honest. It was a real success.
"We have a big steampunk parade, so that's our highlight from about 2.50pm at the Old Star Inn. They will walk down the high street and there will be a walking jazz band infront of them. So we'll go down the high street, across the junction to the ancient Bayle Museum gatehouse which has been specially opened for us so we can sing carols.
"The most important part is the steampunk parade which ends with community carol singing so everyone's welcome to join the brass band, jazz band, steampunk people and the Coastal Voices choir. Carol sheets will be handed out and that will be at approximately 3pm and people can then head back to the high street to enjoy the rest of the festival."
