The owner of Bridlington old town's art gallery tells us he's 'optimistic' they'll attract many visitors in the coming months.

Martyn Coltman's planning to re-open the site next month in line with government guidelines, once coronavirus restrictions ease.

He says people came to visit from far and wide last summer when the country exited lockdown:

"The feedback was really superb, so hopefully some of those people who came here in 2020 return, and I'm sure we'll all have a fantastic summer. That's as long as we stay safe.

"Normally, people only visit Bridlington from the north midlands, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Teesside, but last year we managed to attract people from all over the UK.

"From June until the end of October in 2020, we had the five best months we've had since we took the gallery on back in 2015 in terms of how busy it was.

"None of us want to go back into lockdown, so I favour this cautious approach, but we're all prepared to re-open on the 12th April, along with the rest of the businesses in the old town."

The art gallery is also used as an information point for tourists in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
