A new temporary mast has been switched on at Bilsdale, restoring TV services to approximately 95% of affected households in the region.

The original 300-metre structure on the North York Moors was seriously damaged when a fire broke out in August, and was demolished last week (6th October).

TV signal was lost for many of the 600,000 households it serves across North Yorkshire, Teesside and County Durham.

Now, a temporary 80-metre structure means those services are back up and running for most households.

The switch-on means many TVs may have to be re-tuned. A full guide is available online: bilsdalemast.co.uk.

In a statement, the operator, Arqiva, added: 'As we have previously said, not everyone is covered by the switch on, and further details on help for those whose TV services are still affected from this evening will be set out tomorrow Thursday] at [bilsdalemast.co.uk.'
