Big drop in vaccinations in Scarborough
The number of people getting the jab in the borough has dropped 80 per cent in a week.
The number of people vaccinated against the coronavirus in Scarborough has dropped dramatically, compared to the week before.
In the seven days up to March 28, a further 5,654 people got at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
However, in the following week, up to April 4, that number fell to just 1,071.
The total number of people in the borough of Scarborough to have at least one dose of one of the vaccines now stands at 66,336.
It is hoped that people int he 40-49 age group could start to be invited to book their vaccine appointments from April 15.
Prof Mike Holmes, chairman of Nimbuscare, which runs the vaccination site at Askham Bar in York told a City York Council meeting this week that the first doses of the Moderna vaccine could arrive on site as early as next week.
Meanwhile, Scarborough’s seven-day coronavirus infection rate per 100,000 people has fallen to 47, after hitting 50 yesterday,
It means that the borough continues to have the highest rate of anywhere in the county and remains above the average rates for both North Yorkshire and England as a whole.
Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend, for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
