Girls living in York say they feel inspired to become a rugby player when they grow up.

Some of York Valkyries youngest supporters turned out for the teams victory parade this week to celebrate winning the super league.

13 year old Libby was watching and says she's got her sights set on joining the line up: "They are amazing to be honest, they are a great group of girls they've worked together for a long time and they are just an amazing time."

"I've been playing since I was eight years old, it's just an amazing sport, it's full of respect and it's just fund to play".

"There is not enough women league rugby league or union teams they need to get more, we need to bring some more people down and watch them and get involved. I want to be playing for the Valkyrie when I'm older, it's my dream."

Captain Sinead Peach also says it feels fantastic that so many young girls are getting involved: "Back when I was playing there wasn't many women you could look up to because it wasn't really known then, I was watching the men so now young girls watching us, it's unbelievable when they say they look up to us and want to be like us."
