York student facing huge rent hikes next year
Landlords are raising prices as we continue through the cost of living crisis
We're hearing how some landlords in York have doubled the amount they're charging University students in rent.
As the cost of living soars, some have been told they'll have to find hundreds of extra pounds a month to keep a roof over their head.
Sam Pritchard studies in the City: "Our house here was £140 a week and now it's gone up to £195 a week for next year so it will be a massive jump".
He says the University are trying to help, but it's not an easy time for anyone: "We've got energy rebates and some departments that are doing extra bits, there is help available but it's definitely something that is on people's minds.
The University say it's conscious students are facing rising costs and more information on the help they are providing can be found here.
Concerns have been raised shortly after staff at York St John opened a food larder to stop their students from going hungry through the cost of living crisis.
