Disruption on trains between York and Sheffield is expect to last until Tuesday (17 November), after a train derailed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Repair work is ongoing in Sheffield - after the incident caused damage to track and signalling equipment.

Network Rail says staff have been at the scene since early on Wednesday morning.

In order to make the wagons that came off the tracks save to move, cement had to be pumped out of them.

What's happening with trains to York?

All Northern services are cancelled at the moment, replaced by buses. Other train companies are mostly unaffected.

A replacement bus service is running in place of all Northern trains on the York-Sheffield route (via Pontefract), but journeys will take up to 60 minutes longer.

Northern tickets are being accepted on CrossCountry services between Sheffield and York, and Sheffield and Leeds (via Wakefield Westgate).

Network Rail advises checking with National Rail Enquiries before you travel.
