Police launch murder investigation after incident in York city centre

Two men and one woman sustained serious injuries in the attack

North Yorkshire Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally injured in York city centre.

Officers were alerted to an incident taking place in the Haxby Road area of the city at about 7:20pm on Saturday evening (November 23rd).

When responders arrived at the scene, they found two men and one woman who suffered serious injuries, requiring immediate medical attention.

One man, aged in his 20s and from the Bradford area, was eventually taken to hospital with serious wounds, and sadly died in hospital later in the evening.

The second man was also taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

Speaking on the incident, a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "A cordon has been placed around the scene, at a residential address, and there will continue to be an increased police presence in the area.

"We’re continuing to work closely with the community and have been carrying out extensive enquiries."
