York City Walls opens after dark this week
Part of York's historic city walls will be open after dark to visitors across three days this week
A stretch of York city walls is open after dark for the next two nights.
The special event is called 'Twilight Walls' and is to raise money for next year's York Walls Festival.
It will give visitors the opportunity to walk around the section of the Bar Walls, between Bootham Bar and Monk Bar at night, from 7pm to 8pm.
All three evenings will also host a special bat-detecting session, ‘Bat Experience’, each led by the North Yorkshire Bat Group - a bat conservationist group concerned with furthering public understanding of bats in North Yorkshire.
The York Walls Festival will commence next year from Saturday, April 30 - Monday, May 2.
As with the festival, this event is both ran and organised by volunteers.
Tickets cost £8, with all the proceeds going towards next year’s festival.
