After FIVE seasons in National League North, York City have been PROMOTED.

It's thanks to their 2-0 win over Boston United in the promotion final at the LNER Community Stadium.

Over 7,000 fans watch on as the Minstermen secured promotion to the National League.

Goals by Lenell John-Lewis and Maz Kouhyar means John Askey's men will be playing the likes of Grimsby Town, Southend United and Bromley next season.

It's arguably one of the biggest wins in the club 100 year history.

Before today and in the regular league, York City finished fifth - 21 points behind second-placed Brackley Town - a team they beat 1-0 in the semi-finals.

Now after playing in the sixth-tier of football, John Askey's men make a return to the National League.
