Around 60 Ukrainian refugees have been given free tickets to York City's match against Rochdale today.

The fixture, which is a 3pm kick-off, has been chosen as it takes place four days after Ukraine Independence Day, which was celebrated on 24th August.

The club have organised a community day and will also be raising funds for vital medical equipment to be sent to the front line.

Stuart Paver, from the Pavers Foundation, will be driving to Ukraine next month to deliver the supplies: "It's a great effort from York City and hopefully the fans will be quite generous and help us raised a bit more cash for the trip, our expenses we pay ourselves we don't use it out of anything that's raised."

"It's definitely needed, there are so many more things that we could do if we had the funds, but it becomes prioritisation about what you do."

"We've just got 33 mine detectors going in over the next few weeks, they could do with thousands and thousands of those, but without the money it is difficult."
