UPDATE 27 April 2021: Clipper Logistics, which has been named as the company involved, says there's "no evidence" the cases were contracted in its warehouse.

Public Health England is now working in Selby to stop a coronavirus outbreak, that's been linked to a local company.

North Yorkshire County Council has confirmed on-site testing is being offered at the company, which hasn't been named.

Health officials are hoping to identify other cases, and stop the virus from spreading further through the district.

New figures show the rate in Selby now stands at 112 per every 100,000- four times higher than the rate in the rest of the UK.

Louise Wallace, North Yorkshire’s Director of Public Health said: “The company is working very closely with us as we take every measure, including workforce testing on site, to contain this outbreak.

“As a consequence we know that local infection rates will appear higher and show a short term increase before they start to drop again."

Authorities are also trying to track cases in the wider community.
