Witness appeal after a police officer is hit by a motorbike in Whitby

The officer was run over after stopping the motorcyclist on Tuesday

Police are appealing for witnesses after an officer was run over in Whitby.

At around 1.05pm on Tuesday (11 June) an orange motorcross motorcycle, that had been driving around the Helredale Road, Larpool Crescent, Rohilla Close and St Peters Road areas, was stopped by police in an alleyway.

The motorcycle was then ridden towards and into a police officer who suffered bruising to their arms and legs.

Officers are appealing for information about the owner of the vehicle and the identity of the rider.
