North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Philip Allott has launched a three-month consultation on the people’s priorities for policing, fire and rescue and victims’ services.

Philip wants to hear from people across North Yorkshire and York as he develops his Police and Crime Plan and Fire and Rescue Plan for 2021-2024.

The consultation will include online surveys, representative targeted surveys, focus groups with partners and a 16-stop tour across the County and City.

The ‘Your Safety, Your Priorities, Your Plans’ consultation will aim to encourage a debate about what the priorities for policing and the fire and rescue service should be in North Yorkshire and York.

Philip said:

"The public expects - and quite rightly so - that the police will deal with issues such as drugs and county lines gangs but there are also other areas of concern for members of the community - for example domestic violence, which has increased during the coronavirus lockdowns, and dog crime.#

When Mr Allott has been on patrol with local police officers across North Yorkshire, residents have also expressed fears over criminal gangs, drug dealing, theft and anti social behaviour.

He added:

“It’s really important that my Police and Crime Plan and Fire and Rescue Plan reflect the priorities of communities across North Yorkshire and York.

"We are very excited to be getting out to engage with people across the County and City to hear your views. I urge everyone to have their say.”
