World War Two bomb removed in North Yorkshire

An unexploded World War Two bomb has been safely removed in North Yorkshire.
Shortly after 08.30am on Thursday 07 August 2025 police received a report of a suspected World War Two unexploded device found at an outbuilding in Staxton.
Officers attended to the address and informed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).
A cordon was put in place as a precaution while EOD removed the device from the area.
The device was then transported to a safe location where a controlled explosion took place at approximately 12.30.
The cordon is now stood down.
A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police said: "We would like to thank the public for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident."
