Two teenagers injured by fireworks in Scarborough
It is believed that both casualties were holding fireworks at the time of the incident
Two 18-year-old teenagers have been injured in a firework incident on Scarborough foreshore on Tuesday evening (5 November).
Police were called at around 7.15pm following reports that a person had been injured by a firework.
On arrival, officers discovered that two teenagers had sustained injuries, one to his face and another to his hand.
It is believed that both casualties were holding fireworks at the time of the incident.
The beach was temporarily cleared to allow for an air ambulance to land, but the two injured individuals were taken to hospital by land ambulance, and the beach was later reopened once the scene was made safe.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, and we are appealing to anyone who was present at the scene to get in touch if they have not already spoken to the police."
Yorkshire Ambulance service said: "We received an emergency call at 7.13pm last night (5 November) to report an incident on Scarborough Beach.
"A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene, including two ambulances and the air ambulance, and two patients were conveyed to hospital."
