North Yorkshire Fire Service have launched an investigation after being called out twice to a playground in York.

Crews were called to fires, which have now been found to have started deliberately, at an unnamed playground on Wednesday night (April 2).

A service spokesman said: “At 7.19pm Acomb’s second crew attended reports of a bin on fire in a play park. They extinguished the bin using a bucket of water and backpack sprayers. The cause is believed deliberate.

“Then again at 7.42pm Acomb’s second appliance was returned to the scene of their previous incident after another fire had been started in the bushes and under growth of the play park.

“Police were requested to also attend the scene after the cause is believed deliberate.”
