Two brothers have been handed prison sentences after police discovered them in Harrogate, with 21 bags of cocaine.

Habeeb and Adheel Mohammed from Leeds were arrested after they were stopped on the A61 in September 2021 and released under investigation.

Eight months later, 21-year-old Habeeb was found trying to discard a black bag containing 36 bags of the Class A drug, after police became suspicious one of the brothers was dealing again.

Both pleaded guilty to drug offences at York Crown Court and have been sentenced.

Habeeb received a sentence of 5 years in prison and Adheel was sentenced to two years in prison suspended for 18 months.

PC Michael Haydock, from North Yorkshire Police’s Operation Expedite team in Harrogate, said:

“The impact that drug related crime has on people in North Yorkshire is severe and we see it as our duty to target those who sell drugs.

“People who supply drugs have no place in our communities, they will be pursued, investigated and punished."
