Two teenagers arrested after cross-border police chase ends in Middlesbrough
A police chase involved a stolen vehicle that crossed from North Yorkshire into Cleveland
Two teenagers have been arrested following a pursuit over the North Yorkshire / Cleveland border.
North Yorkshire Police were alerted by Cleveland Police at around 4:30pm yesterday (18 November) that a vehicle of a suspected robbery was heading towards North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire officers tracked the vehicle to the Newton-under-Roseberry area and began to follow it.
The vehicle failed to stop for officers, and a pursuit with the vehicle ended on Ladgate Lane near the junction with Marton Road in Middlesbrough.
During the chase, the suspects attempted to force their vehicle between a pedestrian crossing and another car, damaging the civilian’s vehicle before colliding head-on with a North Yorkshire Police car travelling in the opposite direction.
The pair abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, but officers detained them shortly afterwards. The member of the public whose car was struck was not injured.
A police officer involved in the collision was taken to hospital with suspected injuries to his ribs, neck, and arm. He has since been discharged.
Both teenagers, who are from Middlesbrough, were taken into custody by North Yorkshire Police before being transferred to Cleveland Police for further investigation.
The two suspects, both aged 17 from Middlesbrough were arrested and taken into custody before being handed over to Cleveland Police.
