Toddler "grabbed" in York street
A man's been arrested
A man's been arrested after a toddler was "grabbed" in York on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the two-year-old boy was out walking with his mother when the man tried to snatch him away from her.
But the man ran off when she began shouting, and two men in high-vis jackets came over to help her.
It's been confirmed that no one was hurt during the incident, which happened on a bridge over Huntington Road on Tuesday, but both the mother and the child were shaken.
Officers have arrested a man and are now looking to speak to any witnesses who were in the area at the time.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Residents can be reassured that York is a very safe place, and incidents of this nature are extremely rare. In this case, a suspect was quickly identified, arrested, and taken into custody. Enquiries are now ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference 12210088176.
