York City FC: Tim Ryan takes interim charge but search continues for new manager
His first game in charge will be tomorrow against Wealdstone
York City Football Club has officially confirmed the appointment of Tim Ryan as Interim Manager.
We told you yesterday that he will take charge of his first game tomorrow (Saturday 19th November) against Wealdstone.
He will be joined by Scott Barrow, one of the players, and goalkeeper coach Mark Goodlad, who are stepping in as assistants.
The process of recruiting a new manager continues though.
On its website, York City issued a statement which said: "Following the conclusion of discussions with multiple parties, York City would like to confirm our interim management team as the process of recruiting a new manager continues.
"Youth Team manager Tim Ryan has stepped up to manage the first team during the interim period. We are confident Tim is the right person to lead us through this period with his impressive experience in the game.
"With a playing career behind him which saw him make more than 500 appearances in the Football League, he started his coaching career while still playing, becoming the assistant manager at Chester City. He managed Chester City in the National League as caretaker manager for one game, and after impressing new manager Jim Harvey, he continued to work as his assistant.
"He worked under Harvey again as his assistant at Stalybridge Celtic in the National League North in 2010. It was a successful period for the Celts as they mounted pushes for the play-off places.
"Ryan knows York City Football Club inside out, having spent the last four years in the role of Youth Team Manager. He also stepped up to the first-team last season to assist former manager Steve Watson for two games.
"Ryan will be assisted by Scott Barrow and goalkeeper coach Mark Goodlad for tomorrow afternoon’s National League fixture against Wealdstone.
"Kingsley James has stepped down from his role as first-team coach. We thank Kingsley for his work with the club over the last year."
