Three people taken to hospital after being rescued from the River Ouse

Three people have received hospital treatment after being rescued from the river in York.

Police responded to reports that a person was in the River Ouse near to Ouse Bridge shortly after 1.30am today (Monday 13th May 2024).

Officers alerted the Fire Service and the York Rescue Boat who were sent to the scene along with the Ambulance Service.

Three people were rescued from the water and two of them were members of the public who went into the river to try and rescue the initial person.

All three were taken to hospital as a precaution.
