Man arrested after knife-threat robbery at Thirsk garage

The suspect was detained near Rochdale after a vehicle stop on the M62

A man in his 40s has been arrested following a robbery at Busby Stoop garage near Thirsk on Wednesday evening, 12th November.

At around 8pm, a member of staff was threatened with a knife before the suspect fled the scene in his car.

After extensive police enquiries, the suspect's vehicle was tracked and stopped by Greater Manchester Police near Junction 20 on the M62 West, close to Rochdale. The man was arrested at 9.38pm.

He remains in custody on suspicion of robbery and carrying a knife in a public place while police continue with their investigation.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
