A firefighter from Tadcaster is doing a squats challenge to raise money for mental health.

Ewan Hewett is doing 20 squats every day this year to raise money for York Mind.

Ewan took up the challenge after suffering from mental health issues in the past.

So far, he's done them at home, at work, on Tadcaster Viaduct - and even in the supermarket!

He's aiming to raise £1 for every squat that he does - with a target of £7,300 for the year.

Ewan said: "Mental health issues affect everyone in one way or another. Whether as a sufferer or a supporter. It certainly affected me for a number of years! I want to be able to contribute to a charity who deals with mental health so what better way than with a bit of exercise.

"I'm going to do try and do different locations, get some different people to come and do it with me, and add in some other exercise to go with it.

"I've just done 20 squats with my nieces - who are down in Devon - over a video call. So it's just wherever I can do them. I've done them in Tesco and on Tadcaster Viaduct - I'm just trying to make it more interesting!"
