More than 70 sheep missing, believed stolen from North Yorkshire

Police are appealing for information - it's thought the sheep have been taken rather than have escaped

Over 70 Swaledale Mule sheep are missing, believed to be stolen from Nidderdale.

North Yorkshire Police say it happened between 16th May and 19th May 2025, on remote land to the North East of the village of Lofthouse.

Officers say evidence suggests that they have been taken rather than escaping and going missing.

North Yorkshire Police said:

"We’re particularly appealing for information about the current whereabouts of these sheep and any information about suspicious people, vehicles and activity in the area that may have been involved in their disappearance.
