The Selby district has been named as an 'area of concern' as the government publishes it's latest coronavirus 'watchlist'.

It follows a rise in confirmed Covid-19 cases in the district, with the most recent figure standing at 65.1 cases per 100,000 people.

'Area of concern' is the lowest of the three tiers on the watchlist, with Public Health England describing them as places "where the local area is taking targeted actions to reduce prevalence e.g. additional testing in care homes and increased community engagement with high risk groups"

Also newly described as an 'area of concern' is the borough of Scarborough, with 42.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Higher up the list are the so-called 'areas of intervention' where further localised restrictions have been imposed, including places like Bolton, which stands at the top of the list with a figure of 212.7 cases per 100,000.

Bradford is another area of intervention with 97.5 cases per 100,000 people, whereas Leeds is described as an 'area with enhanced support' with it's figure of 75.5 cases per 100,000 people.
