Search continues for woman who entered River Ouse from Lendal Bridge

The search for a woman who entered the River Ouse from Lendal Bridge is continuing.

Emergency services were searching the river for the woman after it's thought she entered the water at 12.10pm today. York Rescue boat were assisting and the underwater search unit are also conducting searches of the river.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area but Lendal Bridge has now been re-opened to traffic.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

If anyone witnessed a woman going into the river from Lendal Bridge, they are asked to contact police.
