York teen arrested over racist hate crime incident

A 15-year-old boy from York has been arrested on suspicion of two racially aggravated assaults following an attack that happened on 22nd June.

A group of around 15 masked youths assaulted two men in the Hull Road area, York, hitting them with tennis rackets and sticks whilst shouting racist abuse at them.

One boy was arrested today (26th June) but has been released on conditional police bail.

A North Yorkshire police spokesperson said that further arrests are likely to follow.
