Police investigate violent disturbance in York

Police in York are appealing for witnesses and information after a large group of people were involved in a violent incident on Monday (28 December 2020).

It happened on Falsgrave Crescent and Ratcliffe Street at around 7.45pm and involved numerous people – men, women, teenage boys and girls – including some who were filming the incident

Two people have been arrested and have been released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.

However, officers have not ruled out making further arrests.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to the police, to contact them.

Officers are also appealing to anyone who filmed the incident, or has private CCTV or motion activated doorbell video to contact them.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:

No reports of any serious injuries were received during the incident.
