Appeal to identify male who approached 11-year-old girl

Police are trying to identify a man who approached an 11-year-old girl in York.

It happened in the alleyway just off Tennent Road in Acomb, York, at approximately 3.10pm on Friday (12 November).

The man approached an 11-year-old girl and asked her name and her age before telling her ‘she was cute’.

As she cycled away from him, he shouted after her.

The man is described as a white, approx. 30-50 years old, with a tan, an accent, very dark brown almost black hair, of average build, and around 5ft 10ins tall.

He is also described as having a scar under his right eye that was approximately 2cm in length and he was wearing all black.

Anyone who was in the area at the time is urged to get in touch, particularly if you recall seeing a man who matches this description or have any CCTV or dash-cam footage that may have captured something.
