Police appeal for witnesses after an assault on a cyclist in York

The victim was knocked off their bike and punched on Holgate Road

Police are appealing for information following an assault on a cyclist in York.

The incident happened at around 9:40am on Thursday 7th March on Holgate Road and it involved three men.

The victim, who was riding a yellow bike, was knocked off it by a man before being punched several times in the head. As a result, the cyclist sustained facial and head injuries and required hospital treatment.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident as it happened at a busy time of day and there were a number of people that stopped to help.
