North Yorkshire police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a car failed to stop following a collision on the A1 motorway.

Officers were called to the stretch of motorway between Boroughbridge (Junction 48) and Dishforth (Junction 49) on the northbound carriageway between 5am and 5.15am on the morning of Monday 31 March.

A grey Citroen C3 was travelling north in lane one when it was hit from behind by a black vehicle and came to rest on the verge of the motorway.

The black vehicle failed to stop and continued north.

The force are now appealing to anyone travelling along the A1 who either witnessed the incident or has any dashcam footage of the incident or the moments before it.
