Police appeal after burglary in York

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about a burglary in York.

It happened between 7.20 – 7.35am on Friday on Nunnery Lane.

A man gained entry to a property through the front door but was disturbed by the resident and fled the scene on a black bicycle with a blue seat which is described as battered in appearance.

In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"The man is described as being Eastern European in appearance, between 25-30 years old, around 5’7” tall and of a skinny build. He had dark brown eyes and is described as appearing quite unwell.

"He was wearing a black beanie hat, black cotton face mask, a knee length black raincoat with the hood up and a small motif on the left arm of the coat. He was also wearing black tracksuit trousers, black and silver trainers and faded white cotton gloves.
