Urgent plea for new sponsors for Ukrainian refugees in York

Charity says we're "hurtling towards a crisis" if something isn't done

A York Charity's put out an urgent plea for a new sponsors to host Ukrainian refugees.

The City of Sanctuary says "we're hurtling towards a homeless crisis if something is not done".

They're also asking for landlords and holidays lets to get in touch to if they can offer accommodation.

Maryna Kapas Romaniuk is living in Dunnington near York and needs to find somewhere new to live in the New year. She says she doesn't want to move far because her young son has settled in his local school. She tells us: "Our children are children with trauma, because they are separated from their families and for them it will be a very big trauma to move again."
