Animal charity says owners giving up pets because of rising cost of living
The Blue Cross Rehoming centre in Thirsk says some heart-broken owners can't afford to care for their animals
A North Yorkshire charity says more people are having to give up their pets because of the cost of living crisis.
The Blue Cross in Thirsk say heartbroken owners are having to hand over animals because of rising pet food prices and soaring vet bills.
They say it also means fewer people feel able to afford to adopt one of their animals.
Danielle Sheriff is the Centre Manager "Our pets are our companions and they are good for our well-being and this is a crucial time when people need and there are having to say good-bye to their best friends, their family members because of that cost of living increase."
