England's World Cup Match tonight should be a big boost for pubs across North Yorkshire.

It's a 7o'clock kick off with many fans expected to head down to their local to watch.

Peter Pendlebury runs the Red Lion in York and says it's come at a good time as the cost-of-living hits: "I'm saving seats from my regulars, then it's a first come first serve after that. I've told my regulars to come in for 7o'clock and if you come in after that I'm not saving your seat."

He is expected the pub to be completely full which is a huge relief as the landlord is predicting his energy bills are about to shoot up in the coming weeks: "Our contract has just finished so we haven't had our bills yet on the new rates but we are expecting them to go up by £25,000."

Asked how he will cope with such a steep rise he tells us: "We'll just make slight adjustments to rotas and pricing and just switch things off to be honest. When the real Winter comes we might close a bit earlier and open a bit later."
