North Yorkshire police issue warning after thefts in Selby

A number of incidents have been reported.

A number of purse dipping incidents have been reported in Selby.

On some occasions the bank cards have been stolen and used quickly after the theft.

Females in their 70's & 80's have been targeted when they were in local shops.

North Yorkshire Police have issued this advice:

-Keep purses and bags closed and secure when not in use. Zipped bags are safer

-Carry bags in front of you or diagonally across your chest

-Don’t leave bags unattended while you pay for other items

-Return cards to your purse or wallet quickly and zip/ button it up

-Conceal your wallet in a buttoned or zipped pocket

-Keep your mobile phone and wallet in separate place, not in the same bag
