Police appealing for help after fatal fail-to-stop collision
19-year-old Bailey Chadwick was killed in a collision on Sunday 20 July
Officers investigating a fatal hit and run collision that tragically claimed the life of 19-year-old Bailey Chadwick are today appealing for help in identifying two vehicles captured on CCTV in the area around the time of the incident.
Bailey was killed in a collision on Sunday 20 July. Since then, investigators have been carrying out a thorough review of hours of CCTV footage as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Detectives have now released images of two vehicles they are urgently trying to trace. While there is currently no evidence to suggest that either vehicle was directly involved in the collision, police believe the drivers may have witnessed something important.
Officers are keen to speak to the drivers of the vehicles spotted on CCTV, as they were in the area at a critical time. Even if they didn’t see the collision itself, they may hold vital information that could assist the inquiry.
The vehicles were first seen passing through the village of Wilsill on the B6165 heading west towards Pateley Bridge at 2:43am. They were then picked up by cameras on Ripon Road at 2:45am and continued onto the High Street, turning right onto Low Wath Road at 2:46am.
One of the vehicles was later seen returning along the same route, starting from Low Wath Road at 2:53am and passing through Wilsill again at 2:56am.
Police are urging anyone who recognises the vehicles or who may have dashcam footage from the area during that time to come forward as soon as possible.
