The family of Nick Alves, a 38-year-old man from Scarborough, have paid a heartfelt tribute following his death in a car crash on 31st October.

Nick tragically died at the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Scalby Road, Scarborough, shortly after 9pm. The incident involved a brown Honda Jazz that struck street furniture.

In a statement, Nick’s family expressed their devastation at his loss:

“We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved son, dad, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend. We simply cannot imagine life without Nick in it.

“Nick joined the Navy straight after leaving school and travelled the world, meeting incredible people and experiencing amazing places. After leaving the Navy, he settled in Scarborough to be close to his family.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to those who helped and stayed with Nick so that he was not alone in his final moments. Words cannot describe how much that kindness meant to us.”

North Yorkshire Police have extended their condolences to Nick's family and said their thoughts remain with his loved ones during this difficult time.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing, and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who saw the incident or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact the police if they have not already spoken to officers.
