Next to expand Scarborough store
It's as it plans to close its current shop in the Brunswick Centre

Retailer Next has been given permission to expand its store on Seamer Road, just outside Scarborough, as part of plans to close its current shop in the Brunswick Centre in the town centre.
The company plans to move into a nearby empty unit, which used to be home to Magnet Kitchens. They will also add a new mezzanine level inside the store, giving them more space for both shopping and storage.
North Yorkshire Council has approved the plans, with some conditions.
Next said it still wants to keep trading in Scarborough, and that bringing everything under one roof at the Seamer Road site will help the company stay in the area for the long run.
A traffic report said there would only be a small increase in cars – about 21 extra movements per hour – and the current car park should still have enough space, needing just five more spots at most.
No one from the public or the council's Highways team raised any concerns about the plans. Planning officers also said the store’s new design fits in well with the look of the retail park.
