York City have named former Wimbledon, Notts County and Solihull Moors boss Neil Ardley their new manager.

The 51-year-old - who left Solihull in the summer - joins the Minstermen on a three year deal.

It follows the sacking of Michael Morton last month, with York second from bottom in the National League table.

A statement on the club's website said: "York City FC is delighted to announce the appointment of vastly experienced Neal Ardley as the club’s new first team manager on a three-year deal."

On social media, owner Matt Uggla added: "First manager I’ve ever appointed. After getting to know the man I know the club is in very safe hands and he fits the vision and culture we are trying to build! Very exciting times."
